What is a risk factor?
A risk factor increases your chances of being injured or getting sick. For example, a family history of heart disease increases your own risk of getting heart disease.
What is your risk?
Australia 's biggest killers are heart attacks, strokes, cancer, lung disease and accidents. These account for over 80% of all deaths. Some risk factors, like your family and personal history, cannot be changed. But some risk factors are under your control, like your diet, smoking, drinking and exercise habits.
